Find, Match, and Arrange Data with Precision in Excel
This is a Microsoft Excel tutorial, covering how to find a record in one column, sort it and match it with the same record details in a second column. In this video the tutor uses the MATCH function and custom sort. The tutor starts off by using the MATCH function to check whether an item is in a list. If the item appears in the list the MATCH function returns the position that it sits in the list, if it is not in the list the MATCH function returns N/A. The tutor then sorts the lookup list and the matched list, this action lines up the two records so that they appear side by side. If there are missing records, the IFERROR function can be used to display, “Missing”. In the missing record example the original column must be sorted before the match and the lookup column are sorted. The same result is achieved each record sits side by side with its counterpart. This is a Microsoft Excel tutorial. How to find a record match it and sort it between two columns. Find, Match, and Arrange Data with Precision in Excel.
