Course Overview

We provide a customised Microsoft Office training solution designed to help delegates learn and apply their new skills in the work environment. Email support means that there is help at the end of an email. Microsoft Excel and Access courses are our most popular Microsoft Office products with over 40% of all courses being one or the other. Twenty years of training, visiting many companies and learning best practice around the country means that all the examples used are business related and cover most the common aspects of the programs.  You can also read an overview of each of our courses below.

Microsoft Excel starts with the basic layout and functionality of the programme followed by simple sums, functions and charts. Intermediate users can expect to use Excel as a database and discover the management tools available such as Goal Seek, Scenarios and Data Tables. Creating workbook models and linking sheets is an integral part of using Microsoft Excel, users will be able to create and save templates utilising this technique. Advanced users get down to the uses of more complicated functions and how to nest multiple functions. Basic automation helps users navigate around a workbook.

Microsoft Access starts with a simple single table database. Users will understand how each object works within Microsoft Access. The first session covers some of the core concepts followed by basic tables, queries, forms and reports. The second session involves using Access as a relational database and covers creating relationships, calculation in queries, linked forms and reports. The advanced session looks at macros to automate your database and more detailed reports. Users will learn how to customise a database and attach events to object properties.

Microsoft Word starts with basic word processing techniques such as page layout, text formatting, paragraph formatting and print preview. The second session builds on the first and helps users understand some of Microsoft Word’s automated features, such as table of contents and Index references. Users will have a good understanding of mail merge and Word tables. The advanced session looks at automating Microsoft Word by using macros and templates.

Microsoft Project is a two day course providing some great tips and techniques for using Project. Day one covers the basic techniques such as building a task list, linking tasks, task dependencies and task types with day two identifying ways to streamline and customise Project so that users can create their own tables populated by their own customised columns and generate reports to display their data in a user friendly way.

Microsoft PowerPoint starts with a basic understanding of the layouts used in the programme followed by basic PowerPoint tools. Users will insert charts, pictures, sound and video. The basic session ensures each user understands slide transition and slide build effects. The PowerPoint course moves quickly on to produce hyperlinks and automated index references and shows users how to get the best out of slide master view.

Microsoft Outlook  is a one day course covering all the basic elements, such as calendar , email , tasks.  Users will learn how to use conditional formatting and change default Outlook views.  Delegates will create and use rules to manage emails and organise emails in to folders using Quick Steps.

Microsoft Visio is a one session course dealing with the main template stencils. Delegates will use the basic shapes and connectors to understand how Visio drawings work, this is followed by a series of stencil examples covering basic building plans, organisation charts, flow charts, project plans and much more.

Microsoft Publisher is also a one day session covering several template options. Users will use a blank document to learn how all the elements shown in the templates work together.

Time Management covers all basic time management techniques. Users will experience a blended training session catering for most needs. The course is designed to highlight time management issues, not solve organisational problems. Delegates can pick and choose the techniques best suited to their own working environment.
Presentation Skills covers techniques on presenting and tools to use to help in presentations. Delegates will deliver two videoed sessions to help identify presentation issues.
