Can small companies become medium sized companies and how?

Small training companies survive in several ways; direct training, freelance training and contract training.  How can a small training business move from being small to medium size?

There seems to be thousands of businesses out there trying all sorts of marketing messages to engage with other small businesses to tempt them in to spending money on their schemes and plans that, they say, will increase sales for certain.  Use this proven method and increase sales and your exposure, I often here, or guaranteed number one on Google if you work with us.

They must have some success to keep going but they all promise the same thing, can they and do they deliver?  My experience is no they don’t or if they do it is only part of the story and doesn’t always lead to an increase in sales. There appears to be a barrier or barriers that small businesses can’t get over, it might be development costs, staff costs, expertise or desire.  Whatever the barrier is, it is this barrier that must be breached before any marketing plan will work.  Without a breach, money is thrown away on one scheme after another with little or no effect.

The answer is not, here is 100,000 pounds have a nice day, that would be the same as throwing away money on marketing schemes.  It has to be a joined up approach that covers all the bases and ensures that the small business has a live business plan which is maintained to reflect the current situation and not just gathering dust.  Where are the companies or Angels that help in all areas and stay the course and see the growth and development to an end.  There is a niche in the market for this type of support so if anyone does this or knows someone that does send me an email I would be interested.
